A new vision for a mixed-use development at the old Carmel on Providence site in south Charlotte is forming.
Why it matters: The 11 acres at the corner of Providence and Fairview roads were cleared years ago and have long been eyed for development, but a lawsuit stalled any movement.
Flashback: Daniel Levine, president of Levine Properties, and David Miller sued each other in 2019 over a disagreement about where to get a loan for a planned development on the site.
Levine gained full ownership of the property in a March settlement.
What they're saying: "After emerging victorious from five years of litigation, with 100% ownership as of last week, we are currently taking a fresh look at all the possibilities," Levine said in a statement to Axios on Thursday.
"We appreciate the patience of the community throughout this legal journey and look forward to delivering a mixed-use destination that will become a fabulous addition for the neighborhood."
