Levine Properties last week announced it had purchased Akers Acres, a 6.45-acre estate at 6501 Sardis Rd. in south Charlotte.
Details: The Tudor revival-style manor was designed by Charlotte architect Louis Asbury, who also designed landmarks like Myers Park Methodist Church, according to a statement from Levine Properties.
Akers Acres was built in 1937 for insurance executive James Jones Akers and his wife, Nancy Anderson Akers.
What they're saying: Daniel Levine of Levine Properties said he's long admired the property, since he grew up in the neighborhood.
"While we have no specific plans for it at this time, the main goal is to preserve the integrity of the home and discover the best use for the property," Levine said in the statement.
