Davidson College will kick off a $100 million renovation of its campus library, the school announced last week.
Why it matters: The overhauled library will be a modern gathering and studying place for the campus community, one with physical books and periodicals as well as ample digital resources and room for collaborative work.
Zoom out: The project is possible thanks to $60 million from the Duke Endowment, the largest gift in Davidson's history, according to the school. Davidson is also getting a $25 million gift from Bob Abernethy, a business leader and son of the founder of Davidson's Philosophy Department.
The project still needs an additional $15 million, according to the school.
What they're saying: The renovated library will "help prepare Davidson students for solving problems in the world that didn't exist when they enrolled," the school said in a statement.
