Axios' Emma Hurt shrieked when she pulled a T-shirt off the rack at Bozeman Vintage in Montana. A beaver in a cowboy hat waved at her, sandwiched between "Thirsty Beaver" and "Saloon 1225 Central Avenue Charlotte, N.C."
Why it matters: Thirsty Beaver represents a slice of a neighborhood that refused to bow down to development for a dollar. It's where Mick F—ing Jagger grabbed a drink and no one noticed until a picture surfaced after the fact.
