No plans tomorrow? Check out South End's First Friday Gallery Crawl.

Why it matters: The event is a better way to spice up your Friday night than visiting the same 'ol bars or staying home.

How it works: On the first Friday evening of every month, participating galleries stay open to showcase new exhibits and featured artists.

  • You can make it your own self-guided and self-paced night out. Many of the studios offer free wine to sip while you puruse.

Flashback: Axios' McKenzie Rankin went on March's crawl with Charlotte Center City Partners' South End project manager, Allison Mills, who helps organize the event.

  • They kicked things off with ceviche and sushi at Muraya before hitting Dilworth Artisan Station, then StudioWorks Gallery and ending the night at Shed Brand Studio.

If you go: The five galleries participating this month are Hodges Taylor, Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art, Dilworth Artisan Station, Shed Brand and StudioWorks Gallery.

How Allison and McKenzie suggest making a full evening out with this month's crawl
