The inauguralCharlotte Latino Film Festival will take place April 4-14.
Why it matters: "This is probably Charlotte's only chance to watch some of the best recent Latino films, since only a handful will have U.S. distribution," Cine Casual founder Giovanna Torres said in a release.
Context: After three years of presenting Latino films in Charlotte, Cine Casual is expanding with this two-week-long film festival, featuring more events and special guests (like actor Modesto Lacen).
What to expect: The movie screenings will take place at the Independent Picture House, plus there'll be two special events at Salud Cerveceria and Divine Barrel Brewing.
The lineup includes 11 recent award-winning films from Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Brazil.
