The Lunar New Year starts tomorrow, Feb. 10, ushering in the Year of the Dragon.
Over 1.5 billion people celebrate the international holiday, particularly in Asian communities.
Here are three ways to celebrate the Year of the Dragon in Charlotte:
🖼 The Mint Museum in Uptown will host a cultural dance night today from 7-11:30pm, featuring lion dance performers, followed by tributes to Black American music by La Casa de la Cultura. Group dance lessons at 9pm. Tickets start at $10.50.
🍺 Queen City Lion Dance, a local Vietnamese cultural dance group, will perform at Devil's Logic Brewing on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 5pm. Check their Instagram for other performance locations throughout the weekend.
🐉 The Vietnamese Association of Charlotte is holding its annual Lunar New Year Festival at Oasis Shriners on Feb. 10. It will have lion dances, a pageant, raffles, games and local vendors. Tickets are $5.
