Monarch Market is a new food hall opening on Nov. 2 in Uptown.

It’ll be located at One Independence Center in the same building where Sweetgreen and Portofino’s are set to open.

What’s happening: The 18,900-square-foot food hall will open with nine food stalls, one full-service restaurant and three bars. Three more food stalls are available for lease.

Details: Here’s a look at the market’s lineup:

  • Brooklyn Dumpling Shop: The New York-based shop will serve traditional and specialty dumplings.
  • Dock Local: The Texas-based joint will serve fresh seafood in rolls, sandwiches, tacos, salads and sides.
  • Focaccina: Sandwiches on focaccia bread and Italian pastries.
  • Sushi Art: The market’s full-service restaurant will seat 45 people between its bar and tables. You’ll be able to enter from Tryon Street or by walking through the market.
  • Kabab2Go: The locally owned Mediterranean deli will open its second location at Monarch Market.
  • Seoul Good: Expect Korean street food from the owners of Fujiyama.
  • Pha Khao Lao Cuisine: The owners of Sosu Noodle Bar, a Japanese restaurant, will open a new spot at the market focusing on Laotian food, particularly sticky rice.
  • Aster Cocktail Room: Expect classic cocktails with a modern twist on the second floor above the market’s main dining area. It will include an indoor cocktail room, plus an outdoor terrace.
  • Lanai Terrace Bar: This bar will serve coastal-inspired drinks and will have a covered patio overlooking Tryon Street.
  • Barley and Burger: A gourmet burger spot from eastern North Carolina.
  • Curry Junction: Authentic Indian Cuisine from the family behind Curry Gate.
  • Rolled AF: A modern Mexican restaurant from the owners of Nacho Average food truck and 22 Street Kitchen, another popular food truck.

Of note: The address is 101 N. Tryon St. at the corner of Trade and Tryon streets.

  • Monarch Market will be open 11am-9pm Sunday through Thursday and 11am–10pm Friday and Saturday.

Why it matters: New food and drink spots in Uptown are cropping up as workers return to the office. Monarch Market will offer options ranging from a meal before a big game at Bank of America Stadium or Spectrum Center to a cocktail after a show at Belk Theater.

  • “This space will provide an opportunity for One Independence Center to be a true food destination in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, one that will not only be attractive for the daytime worker but a unique destination for nights and weekends as well,” Charles Thrift, founding partner of Thrift Commercial Real Estate, said in a statement.

Zoom out: This is the first project of its kind for Crescent Communities, the developer behind a number of mixed-use developments across the region, including Elizabeth on Seventh. They’re developing it in partnership with Nuveen Real Estate. Hospitality HQ will operate the food hall. Eimer Design is the architect and JE Dunn is the general contractor.

By the numbers: One Independence Center — a 20-story, 565,694-square-foot office tower — recently underwent a three-year, $33-million renovation. It includes 26,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
