Two Buck Saloon will recreate its laid-back, old-timey vibe in second spot on Albemarle Road

• The lowkey bar has resonated with folks in Charlotte, garnering a dedicated customer base. Owner Brent Schilb wants to recreate the same atmosphere throughout the city, starting with a second bar on Albemarle Road.
• He’s overhauled another saloon-like building and, pending inspections, hopes to open by the end of the year.

Why it matters: The second Two Buck Saloon will be one of the few bars near the growing Mint Hill. It’s less than 20 minutes from the college kids at UNC Charlotte.

• “Expect it to feel the same way that it feels at the original Two Buck,” Schilb tells me. “The exact same vibe, pool tables, dartboards, live music.”
• Two Bucks is known for its live performers without a cover charge and its $6 “Buckshot,” a PBR draft and a Jim Beam whiskey shot.

Flashback: Off Hawthorne Lane, the original Two Bucks Saloon looks like an establishment that’s been around for years — decades even. But it actually opened in 2020, a nightmare year for bars.

• It was set to open in February of that year, but then the pandemic struck. It didn’t open until months later when restrictions loosened for outside drinking. And they had to close early.
• Still, Two Buck Saloon has stuck to its affordable approach in the rapidly growing Plaza Midwood area.
