First look: See inside Monday Night Brewing, a brewery and distillery opening soon in South End

Atlanta-based Monday Night Brewing will open its Charlotte location on Saturday, June 24, in South End.

Housed in a converted auto garage on the corner of Rampart Street, the 8,000-square-foot brewery and distillery will be called Monday Night Garden Co.

Why it matters: The Monday Night team wants to make Garden Co. a neighborhood hang-out spot — somewhere customers can grab a picnic lunch and stay for a late-night hangout.

  • The brewery will double as a distillery, and customers will be able to buy liquor to go, including vodka, rum and eventually tequila.

Zoom out: Charlotte marks the fifth location for Monday Night Brewing. The brewery has two locations in Atlanta, one in Nashville, and one in Birmingham. They’re also planning to open in Knoxville.

What to expect: The sprawling brewery and distillery can accommodate up to 1,000 visitors, and it’ll have around 300 interior seats. There’s an upstairs, downstairs and private event space with a satellite/mobile bar.

  • In line with its nickname, the outside of Garden Co. will have a beer garden feel, complete with German beer garden tables and fire pits.
  • It’ll be both dog-friendly and kid-friendly.

The drinks: Monday Night will serve both beer and cocktails. They’re known for a wide array of beers, including fruited sours, lagers, bold IPAs and Scotch Ales — Garden Co. will have around 20 taps. It’ll also have a full cocktail menu using spirits from its in-house distillery line, Sneaky Pete.

  • A blueberry gin fizz, a spiked espresso slushie and a spicy watermelon Red Bull margarita are a few drinks on the cocktail list.

The food: Expect wood-fired pizzas baked in an Italian-imported Neapolitan oven, including a hot honey pizza made with tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala, pecorino pickled onions, pepperoni and Bizzy Bee hot honey.

Details: The brewery is located at 2217 South Tryon, across the street from Inner Peaks.

  • It’ll be open Monday from noon to midnight, Tuesday-Thursday from noon to 11pm, Friday-Saturday noon to 2am and Sunday 11am to 9pm.
  • There’s paid parking across the street, along with free street parking along Rampart.

Flashback: The space Monday Night Brewing is opening in was previously planned to be a seven-stall food hall. The developer, Providence Group Capital, didn’t disclose why the plans changes; only that “stars aligned” for the brewery, Axios previously reported.
