Editors note: We first published this story on March 8, 2023, and updated it June 7 with fresh details.

Club House Kitchen & Cocktails, a new restaurant and bar in the former Lulu’s Maryland Style Kitchen & Seafood spot, opens Friday, June 9, in Plaza Midwood.

Club House is the latest venture for Chet Desai and Ricky Patel, the team that owns Para, a tapas restaurant in South End. Club House will operate as the kitchen for Pinhouse, which is next door — customers will be able to order Club House food at Pinhouse and have it delivered.

Why it matters: Desai says he wants to stay true to the neighborhood and preserve its personality. This includes hiring local talent from the area.

  • “We want to bring in people that grew up there, or are familiar with the area, or (have) been a part of the area forever,” he said.

What to expect: Para’s chef Myles Scaglione designed the menus, including “elevated bar food for Pinhouse” and “plays on Southern classic dishes” at Club House.

  • Desai says he also hopes to develop a cocktail program at Club House comparable to Para’s.
  • They’ve worked with local artists to commission murals either inside or outside the space.
  • The bar will play a range of music, from hip-hop to rock to reggae.
  • There’s also indoor and outdoor seating, including a full bar and two outdoor patios.

Details: Club House is located at 2308 Central Ave.

  • Starting out, it’ll be open Tuesday-Thursday 5-10pm and Friday-Saturday 5pm-midnight.
  • It’ll have similar hours of operation as Pinhouse.

What’s next: Club House will hold their grand opening on Friday at 5pm.

  • Guests can expect live music both Friday and Saturday.

Take a look around Club House, including a first look at the food and drink menu:

You’ll find partially-covered outdoor seating in front of the restaurant.
Expect a range of elevated bar foods, including burgers, flatbreads, salads and wings.
The Central Egg Rolls ($15) are their take on birria-style egg rolls — trust us, they’re a must-order.
Expect nine speciality cocktails, many named after Plaza’s neighborhood icons  — like the Chilly Willy (pictured right) made with Hendricks, simple syrup, heavy cream, orange flower water and club soda ($13).
