Airstream glamping resort called AutoCamp to open in Asheville this winter

Why it matters: AutoCamp properties combine the best of a boutique hotel and camping in the great outdoors with dozens of Airstreams converted into cushy hotel rooms.

Details: The Asheville location will offer 67 accommodations, including Airstreams, suites and compact Bambi Airstreams, a spokesperson tells me.

Amenities: The property will include a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse with a bar, communal lounge, fire pit, general store, kitchen and space for private events.

• It’ll also have an all-season pool.
• Other amenities listed at AutoCamp’s other properties — like Cape Cod and Zio — include flat-screen televisions, bluetooth speakers, kitchenettes, luxury linens, private patios and modern spa-inspired bathrooms (yes in Airstreams!).

Cost: Nightly rates will start at $179 off-peak. At some of AutoCamp’s other properties, I noticed prices as high as $300 or $400 a night.

Location: Find AutoCamp Asheville at 1030 Old Marshall Hwy, about a 15-minute drive north of the city and 2.5 hours from Charlotte.

Our review: My friend Steph recently stayed at AutoCamp in Cape Cod and shared some photos with Axios so you all could get a feel for what to expect, plus a few pros and cons.

• Pros: Attentive staff, delicious cafe, very dog-friendly, various accommodation options (great if you’re too tall for the Airstreams), private outdoor patio for each room, yoga, great location, luxe finishes, cruiser bikes available.
• Cons: A bit of a trek from the parking area to the Airstreams (pack light!) and no gym on-site. That’s it!
• The bottom line: “Would stay there again tomorrow,” Steph tells me.
