The Co-Op, a frosé and sandwich shop, opened its first North Carolina store in South End.
The Charlotte shop is located at West Tremont and South Tryon, next to High-Wire Brewing, Benny Ferrovia’s and Spenga fitness facility.
Why it matters: Charlotte’s drink scene continues to diversify. The city is not only home to breweries, wine bars and seltzeries, but soon a frosé franchise, too.
- Head of marketing Jenny Beckham tells Axios that the goal is to bring a fun, beachy vibe to cities that aren’t coastal. Co-Op also has other locations in cities like Chattanooga and Nashville, according to its website.

What to expect: The Co-Op’s primary offerings will be frosé and sandwiches. Other menu highlights include $1 coffee all day and fresh salads.
- Beckham says there will be 40 rotating frosé flavors, including seasonal options, with six to eight offered at a time. “But we can make 60 or more,” Charlotte Co-Op manager Austin Garabato says.
- When it comes to sandwiches, Beckham says the Cali Turkey is a crowd favorite. It’s made with turkey, bacon, avocado, tomato, sprouts and herb cheese spread on whole wheat.

Space: The 2,200-square-foot restaurant will have a casual beachy vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. “It’s really kind of like a party in the front, business in the back,” Beckham says.
- There’s seating for about 50 people inside and additional seating outside.
