Record-high temperatures expected in Charlotte this week

By the numbers: The high on Feb. 23, 2022, was 65 degrees with half an inch of rain, says Al Conklin, chief meteorologist with our news partners at WBTV.

• The record for Feb. 23 is 79, which was set in 2018. The record for February is 82, which was set in 1930 and hit again in 2011.
• Charlotte typically sees highs in the upper 50s in late February.

What’s next: Things will cool down by Saturday, Feb. 25, for Charlotte FC’s season opener vs. New England Revolution at 7:30pm at Bank of America Stadium.

• Unfortunately, fans may be dealing with rain, temperatures in the mid-50s and cloudy skies — nothing like the clear skies for the home opener last year.
• “It may not rain all day, but rain chances will begin in the morning and carry through the evening,” WBTV meteorologist Bekah Birdsall tells Axios. “We’ll have a better idea about timing when the date gets closer.”
