Prove your friend group is the smartest in Charlotte at Mindless Minutia’s trivia championship

Why it matters: Mindless Minutia is the reason a lot of local venues are packed on weekdays. They host more than 50 trivia games across the city Monday through Thursday. You’ve probably stumbled upon a game or two at your favorite brewery.

What they’re saying: “We bring the party with us, but we’re also serious about our game,” founder Jacob Gresham tells Axios. If you’ve ever been to a Mindless Minutia trivia night with Gresham as the host, you know the energy is palpable. 

How it works: Teams will compete for $3,000 in prize money during the championship. 

• There will be three preliminary competitions at Lenny Boy Brewing on Feb. 16, Feb. 23 and March 2 at 1pm.
• The top teams from each will advance to the finals on March 16 at Lenny Boy and compete for the $3,000 prize pool.
• It costs $215.25 per team to enter the competition.

Flashback: Gresham established Mindless Minutia Trivia in 2015. Before the pandemic, they had about 16 events each week and when the world shut down, they took their trivia competitions online. When everything opened up again, “it was full send,” Gresham said.

• Now, Mindless Minutia has more than 20 hosts — bars, breweries and other establishments. Each brings their own personality to the show, Gresham said. He encourages participants to try different trivia nights to find the host that they like best.
• “We’re bringing the sheets to you, we’re repeating questions, we want everybody to feel like we’re there specifically for them,” Gresham said.
