A number of plant shops sprouted up around town amid the pandemic and Charlotte’s passion for indoor plants continues to grow.
Indoor plants tend to be less intimidating than outdoor gardening. You don’t have to have a green thumb to care for a houseplant. There are plenty of low-maintenance plants like aloe and air plants that don’t require a lot of care.
From a plant shop with a mimosa bar to a shop inside a shipping container, here are five cool plant shops to check out.
Twigs & Figs
The plant shop offers an array of plants, eclectic home decor and DIY workshops. There’s also a bar with juices, tea and kombucha.
Buy this: An air plant.
Pro tip: You can reserve a seat in one of the themed DIY workshops, or build your own terrarium anytime during store hours in the workshop space.

Paradiso
This Atlanta-based popup is open at Optimist Hall. Expect tons of beginner-friendly plants, terrariums, candles, plant and gardening books, pots and other plant and home goods.
Buy this: A gorgeous pot to go with your new plant.

When you first walk into the store, you’ll notice the floor-to-ceiling plant wall where you can pick out a plant or get matched to a plant based on your lifestyle. PlantHouse even offers terrarium workshops where you can enjoy beer, wine or even mimosas while you build your own terrarium.

The plant shop has two locations — one in Camp North End and one in Davidson. Grow sells plants, planters and other accessories like candles and baskets.
Buy this: A tradescantia nanouk. It’s a precious little plant with streaks of purple throughout the leaves.

The Cactus Club
The once-mobile plant shop now has a new brick-and-mortar location in Plaza Midwood. They offer a wide selection of cacti, rare aroids and tropical house plants.
