Charlotte-based Bojangles is moving into a larger headquarters right down the street from their current offices.
What’s happening: The new, 61,448 square-foot space (500 Forest Pine Circle) will undergo an extensive interior renovation. Part of the work includes opening up the space to create an environment that encourages collaboration and engagement, Bojangles said in a statement.
Bojangles’ new headquarters will house its menu innovation, equipment innovation, kitchen design and quality assurance teams, per the company.
- The company aims to move sometime in early 2023.
Why it matters: The move will allow all of Bojangles’ 150 corporate employees to work in a single building. The company’s current HQ (9432 Southern Pines Blvd.) is approximately 50,000 square feet across two buildings.
What they’re saying: “As our company has evolved and grown over the past few years, our space needs have changed dramatically, and we’re excited to be moving to a new space that is specifically designed for an organization like ours and its upward trajectory,” Bojangles CEO Jose Armario said in the statement.
Flashback: Bojangles has been looking for a new headquarters since 2019, a spokesperson confirmed. In 2021, Charlotte Business Journal reported that the company was considering moving its offices, potentially eyeing location closer to Uptown, such as midtown, South End, or the west side.
Between the lines: A growing number of Charlotte companies have moved their headquarters within the city in recent years — often to be closer to young talent, nightlife and transit.
- LendingTree, for instance, moved its headquarters from Ballantyne to South End last year.
- Charlotte Metro Credit Union will begin work on a new headquarters in Elizabeth in 2023, per CBJ.
