New cocktail bar Fairweather opening in NoDa, next to sister bar Idlewild

Fairweather will open in NoDa this month with a menu and a raw bar.

Why it matters: The bar will have a different vibe than Idlewild, but the spaces are connected.

• “It’d be fun having people transfer back and forth,” owner Vince Chirico tells me, adding that if there’s a wait on one side, guests can sit on the other side until they’re called.

The menu: Unlike Idlewild, Fairweather will have a pretty extensive cocktail menu. Plus, it’ll have a wine selection and beer on draft like Allagash White from Maine and a Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing in Colorado.

• Their raw bar will consist of a rotating selection of oysters from the East Coast, including Malpeque and PEI oysters from the northeast.
• In addition to oysters, they’ll serve small plates. “We’re trying really hard not to be a restaurant,” Chirico said, adding that it’ll be a place “where you just come and get a dozen oysters and a drink and call it a day.”

The vibe: Fairweather is slightly bigger than Idlewild, but not by much. It sits about 50-60 people, and eventually they’ll open up the outdoor patio, which sits about ten people out front.
