Film crews took over Charlotte’s North Davidson Street on Monday for a new comedy produced by Judd Apatow.

What’s happening: The untitled Universal Studios movie features Saturday Night Live writing trio “Please Don’t Destroy,” which is known for its popular digital shorts.

  • We saw the trio roller skating down North Davidson as extras walked up and down the road.
  • The street closed to vehicles on Monday between Brevard and 36th Street, but businesses remained open.

What to watch: Expect to see more filming around Charlotte through September, Charlotte Five reports.

Zoom out: The whole scene is reminiscent of Charlotte a decade ago when numerous filming projects like “Homeland,” “The Hunger Games” and “Talladega Nights” chose the region as their set.

  • Charlotte’s been on camera more and more in recent years thanks in part to the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant, which gives incentives to filmmakers.
  • An OWN drama series set and filmed in Charlotte called “Delilah” premiered last year.
  • Plus, a Netflix reality show is casting Charlotte couples right now.
