The team behind Reid’s Fine Foods introduces Salted Melon Market & Eatery – a market, coffee shop, bakery and restaurant wrapped into one.
Why it matters: People who live, work, and shop in South End now have another healthy and convenient spot to eat.
- “From a morning coffee to a healthy lunch, from picking up pantry essentials to meeting friends for dinner and drinks, Salted Melon is curated for the South End consumer,” says COO Thomas Coker Jr.
What to expect: Salted Melon will offer all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- The lunch menu has items like salads, wraps and sandwiches. The dinner menu adds shareable plates and entrées.
- There’s an espresso bar, bakery, and Charlotte’s first bone broth bar, made locally by Brave Broth.
- Macarons are being provided by Amélie’s.
Backstory: Reid’s was founded in 1928 on Morehead Street, then opened a second location on Providence Road in Myers Park in 1931. Ownership changed hands in 1984 and again in 2010 when it moved to Selwyn Avenue.
- Now it has locations in SouthPark and Uptown, too.
- “Reid’s has grown hand in hand with Charlotte and we have been watching the exciting growth of South End,” Coker Jr. says. “With that, we’ve recognized the opportunity to combine the expertise of Reid’s with a concept curated for the modern consumer base in South End.”
Location: The 7,000-square-foot market and restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Lowe’s tower at 100 West Worthington Ave.
