Weekender: 23 fun things to do in Charlotte this Memorial Day weekend

Presented by Charlotte Motor Speedway, hosting the Coca-Cola 600 this weekend. Expect racing action, a military salute and performances from Lynyrd Skynyrd and the 82nd Airborne Chorus. Buy tickets ($40+).

FRIDAY, MAY 27

Circle K Speed Street at Charlotte Motor Speedway: Highlights of this three-day festival include musical performances by Flo Rida and the Steve Miller Band, kid-friendly activities and appearances from some of racing’s biggest stars. May 27-29. $49. Details.

2022 ACC Baseball Championship at Truist Field: Friday is the last series of pool-play games before the semifinals on Saturday, followed by the championship on Sunday. Stick around after the game for a fireworks show. 11am. $15-$20. Details.

Groovy Bones Pop-Up Release Party at The Music Yard: Join the record label Groovy Bone Records for a fun night of house music performances. 6-11pm. $5. Details.

Fresh2Death: An Exhibit Celebration of Black Fashion and Culture at The Mint Museum Uptown: This fashion show showcases the influences of the Black community on mainstream culture and fashion. Guests are encouraged to rock their favorite attire from any decade for a chance to win a variety of gift cards. 6pm. Free, donations appreciated. Details.

Halsey: Love and Power Tour at PNC Music Pavillion: Their songs are constantly taking over the pop charts and now’s the chance to hear them in person! 7pm. $25+. Details.

’90s Pizza Party at Pinhouse: Relive the ’90s and enjoy activities like an outdoor roller skating rink, a costume contest and ’90s tv shows. This party will also have free pizza, Kool-Aid slushies and themed cocktails. 7pm. Free. Details.

Freestyle Love Supreme at Knights Theater: No two shows are the same at this improvisational comedy and music show. 8pm. $20+. Details.

T-Pain: ‘The Road to Wiscansin’ Tour at The Fillmore: Recite the verses of your favorite T-Pain songs with the king of autotune, himself. 8pm. $85. Details.

Wild West Night at The Fairwood 226: Dress in your best cowboy/cowgirl getup for a night of country hits. 10pm to 1am (next day). Free. Details.

SATURDAY, MAY 28

Memorial Day Festivities at the Whitewater Center: Enjoy back-to-back days of outdoor fun starting off with a trail race on Saturday and continuing throughout the weekend with pass activities, yoga, live music and fireworks. May 28-29. Free, $6 parking; trail race $32-$42. Details.

Uptown Farmers Market: Support local vendors while shopping for fresh produce and goods. 8am. Free. Details.

Memorial Day Weekend at Skiptown: Day passes are $5 all weekend long so bring your pup to frolic around the dog park while you enjoy prosecco pops. May 28-30. $5. Details.

Outdoor Meditation at Optimist Hall: Find power in the pause and join wellness guru Sunny Hublerat for a free meditation class. 10am. Free. Details.

SWEATCAMP CLT at Freedom Park: Join Sweat Sisters Unite for a fun and empowering workout in the park. Bring a mat and some water. 10am. $5. Details.

Unshadowed Land at Davidson College: Take a step back in time on this guided walking tour that unveils Indigenous land and sites of enslavement. 10-11am. Free. Details.

Lemonade Fest at Brewers at 4001 at Yancey: This Bold Rock Hard Lemonade-inspired event will have lemonade drink specials, a lemonade stand serving up samples, slushies, yard games, live music and more. 11am. Free. Details.

Sound of Style Fashion Show at The Music Yard: Some of the area’s top models will be sporting the latest looks from regional boutique brands down the runway. There will be music by Carter Cruise and special performances throughout the day. 4-10pm. $10. Details.

SUNDAY, MAY 29

2nd Annual NC Soul-Full Vegan Fest at Community Matters Cafe: You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy the delicious food and fun activities you’ll find at this event. The main event is a vegan mac & cheese competition where the winner will be invited to compete in a competition in Los Angeles. Noon to 8pm. Free. Details.

Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway: Start your engines for the 63rd Coca-Cola 600. Festivities leading up to the race include a pre-race military salute, a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert and a weekend of fun and live music at Circle K Speed Street in the Fan Zone. 6pm. $49-$200. Details.

Food & Flix: Spaceballs (1st Showing) at Alchemy at C3Lab: Order food and drinks to enjoy during the screening of Spaceballs. 6pm. $5. Details.

Charlotte FC Watch Party at Big Ben Pub: Cheer on the team at the go-to watch party spot in town. 8:30pm. Free. Details.

MONDAY, MAY 30

Keith Clinic x StarMed Memorial Day Drive-Thru Event at 4016 Triangle Drive: 1,000 cheeseburger meals, complete with a “Nearly World Famous” Bacon Double Cheeseburger, a drink, a bag of potato chips and a chocolate chip cookie, will be shared with the community. 11am. Free. Details.

Yoga at Cordial Rooftop Southpark: Wind down from the long weekend and meet on the rooftop for a fun yoga flow around sunset. 6:30-7:30pm. $10. Details.
