Charlotte FC dropped their inaugural kit — or uniform, to those still learning soccer terms — in a heist-like reveal at Camp North End.
Why it matters: We finally know what Charlotte’s Major League Soccer team will wear when they kick off against LA Galaxy in their inaugural home match at Bank of America Stadium on March 5, but we need to clear something up first.
What is a kit?
- A kit refers to the entire uniform, not just the jersey, although that is the part of the uniform most people care about.
- A primary kit, which is what Charlotte FC unveiled Thursday, means it’s what the team will wear at home and away when it doesn’t clash with their opponent.
The kit itself was designed by Adidas, with input from the club.
- Note the North and South Carolina state outlines in the lower right corner. They’ll also call this the “Carolina” kit.

How to buy one: Season ticket holders could pick up their preordered kits at the unveiling. Also, season ticket holders who attended the unveiling without preordering had the option of buying one. Event attendees can buy one tonight.
- There will be a pop-up store at Camp North End on Dec. 10 (5-10pm) and Dec. 11 (noon-3pm)
- And the Charlotte FC team store will have them Monday.
- And it will be available on the team’s website.
What they’re saying: “What the Fuch,” Charlotte FC defender Christian Fuchs said with a smile and a laugh to the media when asked for his thoughts on it.
- While he’s been part of several teams, also referred to as clubs, they’ve all been well established, he added.
- “This is something completely new,” Fuchs said of what enticed him to come build this club after 17 years as a professional.
Bottom line: Charlotte finally has a jersey (kit), with a second one to come in 2022.
