This month, our team of editors came through with variety.
Here are 7 of the best dishes we ate this month, listed in no particular order.
(1) Lemon pepper and buffalo wings from Chex Grill & Wings
Alright, this one’s embarrassing to admit considering how many times I’ve worked on our wing guide, but I finally tried the wings from Chex Grill and I’m so glad I did. I went with the 10-piece box and got half lemon pepper, half buffalo plus a side of fries. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach because I ended up having enough wings for lunch the next day. — Symphony Webber, reporter

(2) Cochinita pibil tacos from Taqueria Mal Pan
Mal Pan’s food is flavorful and filling. The outdoor patio is a great place to people watch, too. — Danielle Chemtob, Investigative Reporter

(3) Charcuterie and wine from Dilworth Tasting Room
I finally tried Dilworth Tasting Room’s Tuesday night special this month. You get three two-ounce pours of wine and a small charcuterie board for $25. The boards are preselected but you can choose from any of their still wines. I’m venturing more into red wines and this was a good way to try some new ones without committing to a whole bottle or full pour. It was delightful, as is their patio. — Bri Cane, Reporter

(4) The namesake burger from Bang Bang Burgers
I had a single-patty with a side of fries and sweet tea. Honestly, I regret not getting the double patty, not because the burger wasn’t filling enough, but because it was so good, I could’ve eaten a second one. — Laura Barerro, reporter

(5) Salami and ham sub from Sandwich Max on 7th Street
When I can’t figure out what I want for lunch, Sandwich Max pops into my brain like an angel to guide me home. I usually go with a daily special. Order a footlong, even if you don’t want that much. It comes sliced into 4 pieces, and you’ll feel like you’re at your own personal catered lunch, wondering if anyone will see you go for that third section or even that fourth. — Michael Graff, editor

(6) Fried chicken sandwich from Horace’s Hot Fried Chicken
I’d almost forgotten how humongous and spicy the fried chicken sandwich is at Horace’s. It comes packed with coleslaw, spicy mayo and pickles — and obviously, I got a side of mac n cheese and washed the whole thing down with a Topo Chico. Delicious. Horace’s is in a tiny building on South Tryon and Martin Luther King Boulevard in Uptown. Makes for an easy takeout dinner (and if you’re like me, you’ll have half leftover for lunch the next day). — Katie Peralta Soloff, reporter

(7) Cosmo & Wanda shake from Day & Night Exotic Cereal Bar
LaMelo Ball is onto something when he says Day & Night Exotic Cereal Bar’s Cosmo & Wanda “talk to you different.” The Froot Loops/Captain Crunch All Berries shake, which also comes as a bowl, is phenomenal. Co-owner Greg Robinson was behind the counter when I stopped by, and the service was 10/10. — Ashley Mahoney, reporter
