A different kind of pedicure is now here in Charlotte, and it involves about 100 tiny fish nibbling on your feet.

Welcome to Garra Spa, a Florida-based chain of spas that use garra rufa fish or “doctor fish” to increase circulation in your feet and graze on dead skin.

How it works: The shop allows walk-ins or offers appointments via phone or its website here. Fish spa experiences are available for 15 or 30 minutes (or 10 minutes for kids).

  • Upon arriving, you’ll fill out any necessary paperwork and take a seat at one of the aquarium baths.
  • An attendant will then wash your feet to make sure you don’t contaminate the water before sticking your feet in.
  • Fair warning: If you’re ticklish, this might not be your thing.

Cost: A 15-minute spa session costs $30 or you can do the full 30 minutes for $50. A 10-minute appointment for kids ages 12 and under costs $20.

  • You can also do an “ionic detox” foot soak for $45 (or purchase a combination package for $65-$96).

Location: Find Garra Spa inside Carolina Place mall near the food court. The exact address is 11025 Carolina Pl. Pkwy. in Pineville.

Hours: This location is open the same hours as the mall — 11am-7pm on Monday through Thursday, 11am-8pm on Friday and Saturday, and 12-6pm on Sunday.
