Jim Noble’s new restaurant called The Jimmy is now open in Myers Park

It’s been over three years since the former Nolen Kitchen space was bustling with diners. Now they’re back with Selwyn Avenue’s newest restaurant: The Jimmy.

The restaurant, named after owner and Noble Food & Pursuits restauranteur Jim Noble, quietly opened last week.

What to expect: Unlike Noble’s other Southern-focused restaurants — King’s Kitchen, Noble Smoke, Bossy Beulah’s and Rooster’s — The Jimmy takes inspiration from the coast of Italy and France with a focus on its handmade pastas and Neapolitan-style pizzas.

On the menu: The menu is broken into categories by traditional Italian course names like secondi (entrées), contorni (vegetable-forward sides) and piatti piccolo (small plates). Standout dishes include:

Gnocco fritto ($7) – fried dough served with hot honey and pecorino cheese shavings on top.
Funghi ($18) also called “Jimmy’s Pie.” It’s served with roasted mushrooms, taleggio cheese and balsamic reduction.
Pappardelle ($24) with brisket ragu.
Joyce Farms grilled chicken ($26) with lemon, black pepper and curly endive.

Cocktails: The simple drink menu offers light and refreshing Italian-inspired cocktails like a Negroni Spritz.

Space: The centerpiece of the 3,600-square-foot restaurant is a large covered patio. The inside is full of natural light with accents of turquoise.

Background: Located at the corner of Selwyn and Colony, Nolen Kitchen was known for its zucchini chips and ample outdoor seating. It closed in November 2017 without giving many details about why.

Location: 2839 Selwyn Ave., Ste. X. Other tenants in the Selwyn Avenue shopping center include Reid’s Fine Foods, Shain Gallery and Monkee’s. Selwyn Pub is just next door.

Hours: The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, but for now, only evening reservations are available. (Book here.)
