I’ve always been forgetful, but after so much time at home, my phone-wallet-keys routine needs even more work.
I’m not alone, apparently. Uber tracks the items riders leave behind, and the top three last year were just that: phone, wallet/purse and keys.
In fact, Charlotte was the 9th most forgetful city, according to Uber’s annual Lost and Found Index.
Here’s the top 10 lost items in 2020:
Phone
Wallet/purse
Keys
Backpack
Headphones
Clothing (how?)
Glasses
Vape/E-Cig
Books
Water bottle (this is also v relatable)
5 unusual items: Uber also shared a few unique items that riders left behind, including a birthday cake, an entire order of groceries, a passport, guitar and a baby stroller.
The big picture: Ridership is at all-time high for Uber since the start of the pandemic, a spokesperson tells me. In May, the platform hit a new record for drivers returning to work in response to rider demand and the widespread availability of vaccines.
More drivers are still needed. Lyft and Uber executives told Axios’ Courtenay Brown that rides are more expensive due to a shortage of drivers.
Of note: Masks are still required when in an Uber.
