Myers Park is on display this time of year with pink cherry trees in bloom and its oak-tree-lined streets meant for strolling.

Located just four miles from Uptown, the affluent suburb of Myers Park is home to Queens University, stately homes and popular boutiques and restaurants.

Here are 20 things to do, eat and drink when you’re in Myers Park.

(1) Have a glass of wine from the Harris Teeter Wine Bar.

Enjoy a drink on the patio or inside at the bar. You’ll find a wide variety of wine and craft beer along with cheese platters. The menu includes more than 20 wine selections ranging from $5 to $8 a glass and wine flights for $8. The beer list includes $3 and $4 craft beers, along with $5 limited releases.

(2) Order a transfusion from Selwyn Pub.

The vodka, ginger ale and grape juice drink has become a cult favorite. You can even order one to-go for $6.50 ($7.50 with Tito’s) for a limited time.

Location/hours: 2801 Selwyn Ave. Open Wednesday through Friday 4-11pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am to 11pm.

(3) Go for a walk around Freedom Park.

The 98-acre park has 12 tennis courts, a seven-acre lake, walking/bicycling paths, and a full-sized basketball court, among other amenities.

(4) Staycation at The Duke Mansion.

Experience Southern charm at its finest with a trip to the historic Duke Mansion. The boutique hotel has 20 guest rooms, some with screened porches, and four and a half acres of beautiful gardens. Even if you’re not staying overnight, the gardens are free and open for strolling during the day.

(5) Go bird watching at Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary.

What better way to enjoy the springtime foliage and blooms than by walking through a garden? Wing Haven serves as a much-needed oasis from busy city life. Plus, you can enjoy some special upcoming events like Music in the Garden and Tea Time in the Garden.

(6) Go shopping at the boutiques along Selwyn Avenue.

Add a few fun pieces to your spring wardrobe. Myers Park has a handful of nice boutiques to check out including Monkee’s, Bruce Julian, KK Bloom, and right across Selwyn, Sporting Gent.

(7) Golf at Myers Park Country Club.

It’s one of Charlotte’s oldest and finest private clubs. In addition to the stately clubhouse, there’s an 18-hole golf course plus a driving range. And while the golf course is members-only, guests are allowed.

(8) Order the hot chicken sandwich from Providence Road Sundries.

This Myers Park eatery serves up a lot of these fried chicken sandwiches topped with sweet chili, slaw, bacon, “Picabu” sauce and pickle chips. Another popular dish is the Mediterranean grain bowl.

(9) Pick up a pasta dinner from Pasta & Provisions.

A popular spot for house-made pasta to go, pizza, gourmet breads, wines and Italian favorites like tiramisu.

(10) Browse local art at Shain Gallery.

The gallery features a collection of works from more than 40 artists — many of them nationally acclaimed plus a handful of emerging artists. After more than two decades, Shain Gallery is widely known as one of the finest providers of contemporary art in the Southeast.

(11) Go for a long walk through the winding streets of Queens Road.

The beautiful tree-lined streets are some of the most iconic in Charlotte. It’s even been referred to as Charlotte’s own Champs-Élysées.
