Brothers Vasili and Tony Paspalaris channel their native Greece in their recently opened European-style cafe and tavern in the former Queen & Glass space on East Boulevard.
Why it matters: Dilworth’s restaurant scene has seen a lot of turnover in the past couple years with the closure of spots like People’s Market and The Summit Room. Vasili and Tony hope Vibe Cafe fills that gap in the neighborhood.
What to expect: The Paspalaris brothers took inspiration from the cafes in Athens, Greece, and in other European cities to create Vibe.
- The intimate 1,100-square-foot restaurant has a lounge area in the front, bar seating, a few tables in the back and a large patio.
- Vibe’s coffee menu includes Greek coffee, blended iced coffee, Americano and cappuccino.
- For food, there are some classic Greek dishes like dolmathes, Mediterranean pita, roasted feta and Greek yogurt. Plus, some dishes are from the larger European continent like Belgian waffles and sweet and savory crêpes.
My thought bubble: I spent a couple hours working in Vibe this week, and I’ll definitely be back. It was quiet and cozy with Greek music playing in the background. It didn’t feel like I was in Charlotte, and that’s a welcome feeling in the midst of a pandemic.
Location: 1315 East Boulevard next to the newly opened Red@28th hookah bar. Free two-hour parking in the adjoining lot.
Hours: 8am-5pm on Monday, 8am-9pm on Tuesday-Thursday, 8am-10pm on Friday-Saturday and 10am-9pm on Sunday.
