Camp North End developers plan offices, parking garage, and apartments onsite

Camp North End is a redevelopment of an old manufacturing site off Statesville Avenue.

The developers behind Camp North End have filed plans to add more office space, a parking deck, and apartments to the old warehouse site off North Graham.

This week, ATCO Properties & Management filed a land development permit with the city for the next phase of work. Construction will likely begin early next year, says ATCO co-president Damon Hemmerdinger.

Here are a few details about ATCO’s plans:

  • The project would include removing a portion of an empty existing building that stretches along Camp Road.
  • ATCO would renovate the remaining property (which it’s calling building two) and turn it into more than 150,000 square feet of office space.
  • The developer will build more than 200 apartments next to the offices.
  • ATCO would also build a parking garage next to the apartments.

“We are currently focused on expanding the commercial development at Camp North End, and we expect to share more details about that project and renderings in the coming weeks,” ATCO said in a statement.

Zoom out: Camp North End is a 75-acre site that was once a factory that once made Ford Model Ts. Until a few years ago, Rite Aid used it as its regional distribution center, WFAE reports. ATCO purchased the property in late 2016.

Why it matters: Since ATCO took over, Camp North End has quickly turned into a hub for hip restaurants, sleek office spaces, and boutique retailers.

The new office space, Hemmerdinger says, is large enough for a corporate headquarters.
