This month Spoons, a popular açai bowl food truck, opened its newest brick-and-mortar location along the light rail at the Solis apartment complex in South End.
With a food truck in Cotswold and a storefront in Uptown, this is the third Spoons spot, and a fourth location will be coming soon to NoDa.
The bowls: The menu has three bowl categories to choose from including Favorite Bowls ($11), Functional Bowls ($12), and Build Your Own Bowls ($7+).
Favorite bowls include popular dishes like Heart Throb (voted People’s Choice), which has açai, banana, and granola as the base, cacao nibs, strawberries, and raspberries in the center, and topped with Nutella and chocolate maple spread.
Functional bowls are more for the health nut and post-(home) gym crowd. The Champ bowl has protein-rich ingredients like bee pollen, hemp seeds, cacao nibs, peanut butter, and a chocolate maple pretzel protein spread.
Or you can opt to build your own bowl. Each starts with a base of what the staff calls “BAS,” or banana, açai, and Spoons granola. From there, you can pick from a host of fresh fruits, superfood powders, nutritional extras, and natural spreads.
Coronavirus changes: Guests can order in-store or ahead on the website or the Spoons App. Masks are required inside, but there is a small outdoor standing area where people can enjoy their bowls with a view of the Rail Trail.
Location: Spoons South End is located at 2520 South Boulevard, and is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
