Inspired by the French Renaissance, this architectural Eastover gem owned by Rack Rooms Shoes CEO Mark Lardie and retired footwear industry executive Meredith Lardie marries tradition and extravagance. From the bold, circular foyer all the way through to the resort-style pool, all 7,748 square feet of this home make an impression.
The estate, located at 1001 Colville Road, was designed by Greg Perry. Jessica Grier of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing.
Specs: At 7,748 square feet, the home has 5 bedrooms and 5 full and 2 half baths. All of the bedrooms have ensuites. It’s on .39 acres in Eastover and was built in 2016.
Design: Throughout the home you’ll find artisanal design elements like metallic black splash, custom cabinetry and built-ins, and stylish modern fireplaces. The house also features custom furniture and an impressive collection of artwork.
First floor: As soon as you step into the house, you’re met with a dramatic marble-clad entry that sets the tone for the rest of the home. The main level has a spacious family room with a stunning fireplace (one of the home’s four) and a home office.
The gourmet kitchen has top-notch appliances and finishes, like a farm sink and custom cabinetry. It also has a walk-in pantry and scullery.
Second floor: Upstairs has three ensuites with spacious bathrooms and walk-in closets. The luxurious owner’s suite features a spa-like bath with two separate vanities, a soaking tub, and an enclave shower. The room also has a walk-through closet and bar area with a mini fridge and plenty of counter space for a coffee maker.
Lower level: In addition to a fifth ensuite, the lower level of the home features a family room, kitchenette, a home theater with a 110-inch screen, craft room (or home office, or home-school room), powder room, home gym, and wine storage. It’s the ultimate family hangout spot.
Outdoor living: The resort-like backyard is one of my favorite spaces, with extensive landscaping, a custom privacy fence, plenty of entertaining space, and an outdoor kitchen with a Big Green Egg. There’s also an open-air outdoor living room which has a fireplace and 65-inch TV and overlooks the pool. The wrap-around paver patio features a separate outdoor lounging area, an outdoor dining room, and cushy pool chairs.
