Personal stylist Brittany Newcomb (@bnoblestyled) is quite literally a pro at curating outfits using high- and low-end pieces. Resulting in a chic, layered look that feels cool and approachable all at the same time. And her personal home is no different.
“I’m always inspired by accounts I follow on Instagram, but I really feel like your house should be a reflection of you and your family,” Brittany said. “We have collected antiques from our parents, treasures from our travels and mixing those items with modern pieces really feels like us.”
Quick background: Brittany and her husband moved into their SouthPark home 10 years ago, kidless and the youngest people on the block, at the time.
Since then, they’ve had two kids, and Brittany launched her own personal styling company. Right now she has 25 clients who go to her for fashion advice, personal shopping, building a better wardrobe, and pulling together outfits for day-to-day and special events.
They’ve updated the house throughout the years, and eventually will redesign the entire thing.

The house: The two-story traditional colonial brick home is 3,911 square feet with four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.
“Over the years we added new countertops/backsplash in the kitchen and painted every wall in our house white except for the dining room,” Brittany said. “Our home is very traditional, so the white walls make it feel more modern and make our artwork really pop.”
They also traded the traditional sitting room for a game room with a pool table. But the best seat in the house is in the playroom, Brittany said.

Brittany’s style: In terms of clothing, Brittany describes her personal style as “feminine with an edge.”
“I love all things girly, statement sleeves, bows, and dresses,” she said, “but I love to pair them with something unexpected like leather pants, combat boots, or a menswear blazer.”
And that layered, feminine style translates through her home, too.
“There are touches of black and white stripes, animal print, pops of pink, and the mix of old and new and high and low pieces, which is how I dress as well.”

Shops: Serena and Lily and good old Target are some of Brittany’s favorite non-local, go-to spots for home decor. And Society Social, Cotswold Marketplace, and Slate Interiors are her favorite home goods and furniture stores in town.

Kids spaces: The Newcombs have swapped more formal spaces in favor of more kid-friendly, functional places to gather. From the expansive playroom decked out in colorful Christmas decor (at the moment), to the formal-living-room-turned-game-room, to the darling playhouse in the backyard, Brittany is all for giving her kids space for their imaginations run wild.
“I would say the playroom is my favorite room in our house,” she said. “It’s bright, cozy, and where we all can relax and hang together. Our walls are lined with the kids artwork and shelves packed full of games and toys which gives the kids a place for them to get creative.”
As functional and comfortable as these spaces are, they’re still tastefully and stylishly put together. Even the kids’ closets ooze cool.

Art: From high-sheen blue dining room walls to punchy pink lamps, Brittany opted for several modern touches throughout the house. But nearly all of the artwork (and they have a lot) is done by father and son artists from New England, Tom and T.M. Nicholas.
Tom Nicholas is a family friend from New England, and many of the landscape paintings are of that area or of places the Newcombs have traveled.
I wish everyone could see these in person. They’re truly stunning works that complement the traditional architecture of the home in a picture-perfect way.
