Jingle City, a holiday pop-up bar with festive photo ops, has taken over Morehead Tavern with two stories of gaudy Christmas decorations.
If you’re interested in photos with the family, the pop-up is kid-friendly until 8 p.m. But with an upside-down winter scene hanging over the basement dance floor and Rudolph Tipsy Spritzers (a dressed-up vodka cranberry) as one of three featured beverages, this is the place to get Blitzened in an ugly Christmas sweater and over-the-knee boots.
How it works: Each room in the 12,000-square-foot, two-story bar is decked out in Christmas decorations and holiday-themed vignettes. The whole thing was built with Instagram in mind, so there are five main photo ops: Santa’s throne; a toy land blowup display; a candy-themed corner with Lost & Found vibes; Frosty on a park bench; and a white and gold winter wonderland scene.
Hours vary each day. You can pose for family photos, check out the decorations, and have some festive snacks. They’ll also have holiday music and movies playing throughout, and Santa will be there select dates.
For the night crowd (21+) they’ll have festive cocktails and DJs playing, so you can dance with your friends in tacky Christmas clothes until 2 a.m.
Cocktails: They have three holiday drinks including the Rudolph Tipsy Spritzer (vodka, cranberry juice, club soda, orange juice, and cherry juice), The Grinch (rum and lime juice topped with a cherry), and an Eggnog Amaretto (Eggnog, Amaretto, nutmeg, and a cinnamon stick). They’re all $8 each.
Charitable component: Jingle City Bar is also hosting drives for Turnaround Toys and Safe Alliance. So bring new or lightly used toys and household supplies.
Cost: $15 for adults, and $5 for children under 12
Hours: It’s open Thursday-Sunday now through December 29. Hours are 5 p.m. to 2 a.m on Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.
Location: Morehead Tavern, 300 East Morehead St.
