Office Cribs: Architects Ken Pursley and Craig Dixon transform ‘simple, dumb box’ into their modern, dream office

Ken Pursley and Craig Dixon, two of the city’s most talented architects, recently took a departure from their usual residential work and transformed a “a simple, dumb box” into their new industrial chic office space.

“We are not asked to do modern work very often, but we both have a passion for it,” Ken said. “We basically wanted a space that was zen and tailored in feel without being corporate. A professional person spends the bulk of their waking hours in their office. Why shouldn’t the space be great?”

After working from an Uptown high-rise for nine years, non-negotiables for the new office included lots of good light, an outdoor garden, and an intriguing entry so the interior is an “unexpected surprise.”

“We specifically wanted a building that didn’t look residential. If we renovated an old Victorian house, for example, people would associate that look with our work,” Ken told the Agenda. “We wanted something stylistically agnostic we could change as we needed. It was amazing how hard it was to find a simple, dumb box!”
