Link & Pin targeting Nov. 18 opening in South End — features cocktail cart and mimosa trays

Link & Pin, the newest restaurant and cocktail bar from Rob Duckworth, is targeting a Nov. 18 opening in South End.

The 6,500-square-foot restaurant is located on the ground floor of the new Bradham apartment complex on the light rail.

Name: “We’re on the New Bern Station light rail stop, which is what helped to influence the name, Link & Pin,” said Duckworth. “My son actually came up with that name when he was learning about the history of Charlotte’s rail system. The Link & Pin coupler system is what early railroads used to connect the rail cars together with.”

It’s gorgeous with seating for about 200 that’s divided into more intimate sections, including a lounge, glass patio and show-stopping bar.

The patio has telescopic glass doors and a retractable roof that can completely open up the space on nice days.

Link & Pin will be open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

The lunch menu features mostly salads and fancy sandwiches like a $29 lobster roll, $16 oyster po’ boy and $14 Nashville hot chicken.

Dinner is an extensive offering of more than a dozen shareable small plates (priced $8-$14) and full entrees like Tomahawk bone-in ribeye ($72), crispy flounder ($38) and a house burger topped with a sunny side egg ($14).

Brunch features include classics like chicken & waffles ($15), house-made poptarts ($8), shakshuka ($12) and shrimp & grits ($15).

Brussels sprouts & mixed greens salad with tomato, avocado, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, pomegranate seeds, feta and green goddess dressing ($10)
Cowoby ribeye ($55)
Ceviche with shrimp, scallops, Mahi-Mahi and ginger citrus marinade ($15)
Chicken paillard – thin chicken with arugula, crisp capers and red wine vinaigrette ($11)
Joyce Farms chicken with little neck clams, chorizo and garbanzo beans in coconut curry sauce ($16)

The cocktail menu is presented on an iPad with drinks priced $12-$16.

Pictured here is the Blackberry Buttons ($16), a tequila cocktail served with a Szechuan button to numb your mouth, and a lemongrass caipirinha served with a lemongrass straw.

They’ll also have 24 beers, 6 cocktails, 2 sangrias and 4 wines on tap.

Elaborate mimosa trays with fresh berries and orange, peach, and pear juice are available during brunch for $30 + the cost of your choice of a bottle of champagne (priced $60 and up).

After they get up and running, they’ll ease into tableside service with a mobile cocktail cart in the lounge.

Link & Pin will be open at 11 a.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and closing daily at midnight.

Find it at 155 New Bern Street near Eight+Sand. Shared parking is available inside a large deck.
