Does this house have the best Halloween decorations in the Charlotte area?

“I think the house kind of demands it,” Milan told the Agenda. “We always decorated a little bit for Halloween, but the house was the motivation.”

The exact address is 288 N. Union St., in Concord.

Milan decorates nearly every inch of his property. You’ll see skeleton horses pulling hearses in carriages as witches and ghosts congregate on the porch. There’s a pirate graveyard in one corner of the yard. Every few minutes, an animatronic ghoul pops out from some hidden spot, chattering its teeth and screeching.

At night, the house continues to come alive with strobe lights and projections of skeletons and ghosts dancing in his second-floor windows.

Milan said he doesn’t want to know how much money he’s spent on all of it. He’s tried to stop adding new elements each year, but “I haven’t been very successful,” he says.

How long does it take to decorate everything? “It takes a long time because I work with a skeleton crew,” Milan chuckled.

After the decorations are in place, Milan said it’s common to see kids and their parents taking pictures after school. In the evening adults come by to take a look. He’s also met out-of-towners visiting the house.

“My son and I walk Union Street each morning, and for the past month, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the day when the Halloween House would be decorated,” neighbor Kristin Causey said.

“Kids, who have little patience, stand in line for a really long time on Halloween night just to get two pieces of candy from the famous Halloween House on Union Street. Every time I drive past, I see spectators enjoying and photographing the home. It’s definitely a hallmark in our town.”

When I was visiting a mom pushing her baby in a stroller stopped to take photos. “This is where everyone in the area congregates,” she said.
