Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails opens Friday in South End — see food, drinks, full menus and the rooftop patio

The restaurant and bar is taking over the 3,000-square-foot space formerly occupied Lady M next door at 1320 S. Church St.

“As soon as we opened Craft, my wife and I knew we wanted to open its complement with a cocktail bar and full-service kitchen,” said owner Dan Davis, who runs both locations with his wife Alyson. “A place where the art of crafted cocktails, wine and simple small plates would be the focus.”

The restaurant has three seating zones — the main dining room and bar, a rooftop patio with Uptown views, and a ground floor patio fronting Lincoln Street.

Ground floor: You’ll find a statement moss wall, gorgeous live-edge walnut bar, wraparound antique mirrors and tables for seating about 90. There’s a door that connects Craft to Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails so that customers can walk from one to the other.

Rooftop: Stairs from the Craft parking lot lead up to a 28-seat rooftop patio with views of Uptown. A live Ligustrum tree is planted right in the middle with banquette and high-top seating surrounding it. It’s a cool spot that’ll be very popular.

The food menu consists of New-American small plates for sharing made with locally-sourced ingredients.

Most are in the $8 to $10 range and everything is $15 or less.

Starters

• House pickles ($6) – varies with market availability
• Deviled eggs ($6) – pickled shallots, espelette, chives
• Roasted shishito peppers ($6) – lemon garlic aioli, pecorino
• House duck pastrami ($8) – mustard, cornichon, house-made rye crackers
• Devils on Horseback ($7) – dates, blue cheese, bacon
• Ceviche ($8) – NC red snapper, citrus, avocado

Small Plates

• Mushroom toast ($9) – parsnip puree, herbs, chicken jus
• Beet hummus toast ($8) – watercress, ricotta, spiced walnuts
• Avocado toast ($9) – soft-boiled everything egg, tomato jam, feta
• Little gem salad ($8) – slow-roasted tomato, radish, pecorino
• Warm Arcadian salad ($9) – lardon, blue cheese, date
• Pork belly ($11) – celery root, lime, mint, pork jus
• Branzino ($12) – citrus salad, corn soubise, fennel frond

• Pan roasted chicken ($12) – rainbow carrot, pea, chicken jus
• Wagyu ($15) – crispy baby yukon, chili vinaigrette, pearl onion

Sides

• Pomme puree ($7) – brown butter, crispy garlic
• Roasted squash ($7) – chimichurri, chili yogurt
• Broccolini ($6) – caper, lime, cilantro

Desserts

• Dark chocolate budino ($8)
• Berry cobbler ($8)
• Brown butter pound cake ($8)

The bar menu features a dozen signature craft cocktails (all $13), house-infused liquors, shrubs and natural sodas.

They’ve also got a selection of bottled beers and wines.

House Infusions: These house-infused liquors are used in some of the signature cocktails but can also be ordered on the rocks ($9). Flavors include toasted pecan vodka, 5 citrus gin, vanilla orange bourbon, spiced date rum, sage rye and dark chocolate chili tequila

Shrubs: The classic vinegar-based drink has long been used to preserve fruits. The bartender described them as a sort of kombucha without the fermentation. Flavors include strawberry mint balsamic, celery lemon peppercorn and carrot fennel tangerine

Natural Sodas: Made in house with syrups and seltzer water. Flavors include vanilla mint cream, grapefruit ginger and pomegranate rosewater

Lincoln Street is located right next door to Craft and within walking distance of Seoul Food, Let’s Meat, Hoppin’, Unknown Brewing and Lost & Found.

They’ll be open at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday with closing at 11 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, 2 a.m. Thursday-Saturday and 9 p.m. Sunday. Closed Mondays.
