Have you met the No. 1 happiest person in Charlotte? She works in Concourse E at the airport

“Everybody can be happy,” Valerie told me. “It’s a choice. We are responsible for our own happiness.”

Valerie is a Charlotte native and has been working at Charlotte Douglas Internal Airport for the last 10 years. You can find her singing, dancing and waving from the cash register of the Today store in Concourse E.

“She brightens my day every time I fly,” a traveler shared with me. “I go out of my way to buy my pre-flight snacks from her.”

Of course, our airport is filled with busy stressed travelers,  which makes Valerie’s singing even more unforgettable. You can’t help but smile when you see Valerie.

“If people look at me with a mean face, I give them the happiest face,” explained Valerie. “You’re not on candid camera, but you are in the happy zone.”
