Go inside: Taproom Social, Uptown’s first self-serve bar, now open near BB&T Ballpark with 50 taps
Taproom Social, a Hoppin’-style self-serve bar, is now open in Uptown near the left field gate at BB&T BallPark.
It’s the brainchild of owner Sunkul Soni, a former financial advisor and graduate of NYU’s Stern School of Business.
Layout: Taproom Social’s 2,400-square-foot space features 50 taps, a mix of comfy lounge seating and group high tops, kid’s picnic table with chalkboard and 11 big screen TVs. The space consists of two main rooms, the larger in the front and a more intimate room in the back with the kitchen. Yes, they will offer a limited food menu (think Craft).
Setup: Taproom Social has 50 taps and uses the iPourIt self-serve system. You’ll get a wristband that’ll give you access to the taps and track your consumption (same as Hoppin’). On draft will be beer, wine, Prosecco as well as taps for kombucha, cold brew and a soda.
Hours and location: Taproom Social will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight Monday to Sunday. The exact address is 430 W. 4th St. It’s on the ground level of The Mint apartment building just across the street from the left field gate at BB&T Ballpark.
Why it matters: This is Uptown’s first self-serve taproom and given it’s location, it’ll be a popular spot during game days at BB&T Ballpark and Bank of America Stadium. It joins Pour Taproom (Plaza Midwood) and Hoppin’ (South End) as self-serve spots around Charlotte. Don’t forget, Hoppin’s sister concept Pinhouse will soon open near Resident Culture in Plaza Midwood, and Coliseum V, an action bar, will do self-serve beer, wine and cocktails off of Independence Boulevard.
