Apartment developer opens new coworking space in South End — dedicated desks costs $335 per month

What: It’ll be a 5,500-square-foot space with an outdoor patio, secure Wi-Fi, IT support, on-site staff, 24/7 building access, a kitchen, conference rooms, mail service, private phone call booths and parking.

Where: It’s next to Camden Gallery in South End. The exact address is 1710 Camden Road.

Rates: Day passes are $25; monthly flex memberships are $175; dedicated desk memberships start at $335; and private offices (up to four seats, including parking) start at $550. You can reserve a spot here. Camden community residents get a 10 percent discount on membership.

Why it matters: Camden already has apartments in just about every hot young neighborhood and Charlotte (Camden South End, Camden Gallery, Camden Dilworth, etc.), and this is the first sign that the real estate powerhouse is taking its reach beyond multi-family housing. It’s interesting to think they’ll be managing both where people live and work.
