Jeni’s Ice Creams opening another location at Park Road Shopping Center

Expect a grand opening this summer. This expansion should be no surprise to anyone who has witnessed Jeni’s print cash in South End, consistently generating lines out the door.

Jeni’s Ice Creams is taking the space formerly occupied by Va da Vie Gelato, which recently decided not to renew their lease. Jeni’s will work with developer EDENS and 505 Design to create a custom 621-square-foot scoop shop complete with outdoor patio seating and a waffle cone-making station.

“I do think after the theatre opening, Jeni’s is going to be a perfect addition to the center and is in keeping with our overall center mix evolution,” EDENS managing director Lyle Darnall told the Agenda.

While most are overjoyed with the arrival of Jeni’s, some are upset as evidenced by comments on our Agenda Instagram post like, “Park Road Shopping Center is slowly killing anything local and authentic in the name of the next cool chain.” And another commenter pointed out, “This expansion news needs to come with a parking garage.”
