Bark in the Ballpark

Why you should go: The Knights are taking on the Norfolk Tides, and you can bring your pup (on a leash). There are only four Bark in the Ballpark games per season, so take advantage while the weather is still cool.

CLT Taco Week

Why you should go: Not that you need an excuse to eat a bunch of tacos, but all week long about a dozen restaurants are offering $3 tacos to see who can win the city over and be voted best tacos.
TUESDAY, APRIL 9
Haley Reinhart concert
Booth Playhouse | 7:30 p.m. | $19.50+ | Details
Why you should go: See dynamic artist Haley Reinhart perform live. You might recognize her from American Idol or her rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which was the soundtrack to the Extra Gum ad “The Story of Sarah & Juan.”
EDIT pre-loved designer clothing sale

Why you should go: Fifteen of Charlotte’s most stylish women have emptied their closets and will be selling gently used designer clothing (from Ulla Johnson to Valentino) and accessories at extremely discounted prices — keep in mind, these are designer pieces so don’t expect T.J. Maxx prices. There will be around 600 pieces to shop from, ranging from sizes 2-10. The sale is three days and hours vary.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10
SkillPop: Master the At-Home Blowout

Why you should go: Look good feel good, right? This class is going to teach you how to get the fresh-out-of-the-salon look at home. Plan to bring your own round brush and dryer (or purchase them there), and make sure your hair is clean and dry. Taught by Kenna Kunijo, a 2019 small businessperson of the year finalist.
The Price is Right Live!

Why you should go: There are still a few seats left if you want to catch this game show, which has been running since 1956, live. If you want to be considered to play, show up at least three hours prior to register — registration doesn’t guarantee you’ll get to play, but you have a chance of being selected!
Scotch and Chocolate Tasting

Why you should go: Ceramic sculptor Denny Gerwin and artisan chocolatier Blair Potts of Potts Chocolate are coming together to talk about their respective artworks and rejoice in their shared interest: scotch. You get to sip from hand-made ceramic sippers (very cool), and the scotch will be carefully paired with chocolates.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Orlando Magic

THURSDAY, APRIL 11
Chris D’elia: Follow the Leader

Why you should go: A comedy show is the perfect way to ease into the weekend, and if you enjoy Chris D’elia’s standup Netflix specials as much as I do, you’re going to want to buy a ticket to his live show.
9th annual Charlotte Black Film Festival
Charlotte Convention Center | 6 p.m. | $10-$99 | Details
Why you should go: Celebrate the accomplishments and work of African-American artists, and help raise awareness for the need for diversity in the cinematic creative space. From the Fashion and Film Showcase to award shows to writing competitions, the three-day festival is packed with events.
Queen and Glass Guest Chef Series
The Queen & Glass | 7-10 p.m. | $100 | Details
Why you should go: Chef Paul Verica from The Stanley and highly respected mixologist Bob Peters are teaming up to give you a five-course meal paired with five different cocktails. With these two, you can expect delicious food and drinks.

FRIDAY, APRIL 12
3rd Annual Pop-Up Picnic
Mint Museum Randolph | 6 p.m. | $0-$45 | Details
Why you should go: The event is free to attend, so you can pack a blanket and your own basket, pre-order a basket created by one of 20-something local restaurants ($45 a basket), or grab something from the food truck on site. You can bring your kiddos, and beer and wine will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefits Catawba Lands Conservancy and the Carolina Thread Trail.
Pulp Art: The 2019 Gala
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art | 8 p.m. | $250+ | Details
Why you should go: There will be cocktails, activities and food, and proceeds will go toward supporting the museum throughout the year.
Death Cab for Cutie
Ovens Auditorium | 8 p.m. | $45-$75 | Details
Why you should go: This indie group was absolutely iconic in the early 2000s (paired will with young teen angst), but they’ve continued to rack up Grammy’s, including for an album they released in 2015. They’ll be playing some good throwbacks and songs from their latest album released in 2018.
