March is going to be a fun month, we’ve got the annual Green River Revival, the 2019 CIAA Tournament and tons of festivals. Here are the month’s top events.
2019 CIAA Tournament
March 1-2 | Spectrum Center | Times vary | $70-$115 | Details
Why you should go: You’ll get to see the men’s and women’s basketball teams battle it out in the semi-finals and/or finals for their respective divisions.
Black Violin
March 5 | Belk Theater | 7:30-10:30 p.m. | $25+ | Details
Why you should go: This classically trained strings duo blends their love for hip-hop and classical music to smash cultural stereotypes. They’ve collaborated with a ton of artists like Kanye West, Tom Petty, Wu-Tang Clan and Alicia Keys. Plus, they’re super involved in helping bring arts to schools in impoverished areas which is very cool.
Taste of the New South 2019
March 6 | The Fillmore | 6-9 p.m. | $150-$175 (individual) | Details
Why you should go:Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, acclaimed filmmaker and immigration advocate Jose Antonio Vargas will headline, and your ticket includes food.
Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival
March 9 | AvidXchange Music Factory | Noon to 6 p.m. | $30-$80 | Details
Why you should go: This has been going on for 13 years, and this year you can expect a free glass to sample all the beer and bourbon, barbecue, mac and cheese, biscuits and all kinds of Southern food.
BB&T Corporate Cup 5K and Half Marathon
March 9 | 330 S. Tryon St. | 7:40 a.m. to noon | $35-$85 | Details
Why you should go: This has been going on for 40 years and raises thousands for the Y’s Annual Campaign, and you can do either a 5K or half marathon.
P!nk live in Charlotte
March 9 | Spectrum Center | 8-11 p.m. | $120-$1,600+ | Details
Why you should go: P!nk has been a pop icon since the early 2000s so her setlist is going to include some great throwbacks and some of her newer stuff.
POUR Coffee Festival
March 10 | Lenny Boy Brewing | 1o a.m. to 3 p.m. | $12-$20 | Details
Why you should go: You get unlimited coffee tastings from Charlotte’s (and beyond) best shops and roasters. The catch? Only 800 tickets are being sold and availability is already dwindling.
2019 ACC Basketball Tournament
March 13,15,16 | Spectrum Center | Times vary | $31.50+ | Details
Why you should go: This is one of the most exciting sporting events for college basketball fans, and with so many ACC alums in Charlotte, it’s really cool that the games are being held here this year. Tickets range quite a bit which is nice, because you can catch one session for $31.50 or go with a more expensive package for more games, better seats and VIP treatment.
Charlotte’s Taste of the Nation
March 13 | Brewers at 4001 Yancey | 7-9 p.m. | $85-$120 | Details
Why you should go: You get to try food and drinks from some of Charlotte’s best mixologists and chefs while benefiting No Kid Hungry.
Green River Revival
March 16 | USNWC | 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. | Free | Details
Why you should go: They’re dyeing the river green, and there will be a trail run, yoga and live music.
Rich and Bennett’s 19th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl
March 16 | 300 N. Brevard St. | Noon to 10 p.m. | $20-$35 | Details
Why you should go: You’ll get a T-shirt and koozie so you can hop from bar to bar for the “World’s Largest Pub Crawl.”
Spring Craft Crawl
March 16 | South End | 1-7 p.m. | Free | Details
Why you should go: A trolley will take you between the 10 brew spots for free all afternoon, so you can drink as much as you want without having to worry about how to get there safely.
Dear Evan Hansen
March 19-24 | Belk Theater | Times vary | $34.50+ | Details
Why you should go: The musical won the 2018 Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album and six 2017 Tony Awards, so it’s a must-see show.
Charlotte Checkers Winning Wednesday
March 20 | Bojangles’ Coliseum | 7 p.m. | $18.50-$40 | Details
Why you should go: You get $1 beers and if the Checkers beat Syracuse Crunch, you get a free ticket to their April 3 game.
Skipper’s 21st Birthday Paw-ty!
March 21 | Sycamore Brewing | 6-9 p.m. | Free | Details
Why you should go: There will be a photo booth, free dog nail trims, crafts, a group dog walk, free dog treats and more, so bring your pups and be prepared to pawty.
HackathonCLT MMXIX
March 22-23 | Discovery Science Place | 5 p.m. to 2 p.m. | Free | Details
Why you should go: Teams of tech lovers and hackers work together to compete in challenges, and there’s $30,000 in prizes.
Juicy Brews March Madness
March 23 | Resident Culture | Noon to 4 p.m. | $20-$85 | Details
Why you should go: March Madness games will be playing and you get unlimited samples from tons of beer vendors. Everyone’s encouraged to wear a jersey.
2019 Elizabeth 8K Road Race
March 23 | 345 Hawthorne Lane | 8-10 a.m. | Free to $40 | Details
Why you should go: It’s a classic Charlotte race and you can choose from an 8K or 1.5-mile run, and there’s a fun run or time run for kids.
SEED20 OnStage
March 25 | Knight Theater | 5:30-10 p.m. | $65-$85 | Details
Why you should go: Twenty nonprofit entrepreneurs will showcase their ideas and the top 10 will get the chance to share quick pitches for a chance to win prizes. Plus, you get to network with people tackling social challenges.
