Billy Jack’s Shack now soft opening in NoDa with burgers, sticky nuggets and gourmet doughnuts

Billy Jack’s Shack, a casual bar and restaurant with locations in Virginia and Florida, is in its soft opening phase in NoDa.

They’re currently awaiting their liquor license for full operation.

You’ll find it at 3220 N. Davidson Street in the space formerly occupied by Davidson Street Public House.

Hours are 11 a.m. – midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Once they’re running full steam, Saturday and Sunday brunch will roll out beginning at 10 a.m.

The menu features “10 Napkin” burgers, sticky nuggets (tossed with your choice of 7 house-made sauces), sliders, dogs and classic bar food favorites like wings, nachos and totchos.

The nuggs are served with a fork in a Chinese food-style to-go container. Sauce choices include:

Sticky sweet chili
Peanut hoisin
Garlic herb & parmesan
BBQ cheddar & bacon
Classic buffalo
Caribbean Icky Sticky (pictured below)
Habanero Shocker

The B-Real ($12) with monterrey jack cheese, guacamole, shredded romaine, tomato, smoked bacon and sriracha mayo

Southwest chopped cobb ($8) with chopped romaine, jack cheese, bacon, hard boiled egg, grilled corn, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and sweet chili vinaigrette

Sliders (mix and match 2 for $9) – 50/50 Grind with smoked bacon/wagyu blend patty and Leghorn with your choice of grilled, fried or Nashville hot chicken

Sticky nuggets ($7) tossed with your choice of 7 house-made sauces

They’ve even got a dessert menu featuring fresh fried doughnuts, ice cream and fried Oreos.

At two bucks each and a manageable size, the doughnuts will be tough to ever turn down.

Muddy Pig ($2) with Nutella and crushed bacon

Saturday and Sunday brunch won’t roll out immediately.

The cocktail menu is nothing fancy with simple mixed drinks and shooters mostly priced $6-$10.

They’re waiting on their liquor license but look for things like Heat Lightning ($10) with mango habanero moonshine, simple syrup and lime or the Billy’s Blush ($6) with vodka, cranberry and Sprite.

No elaborate craft cocktails here.

Billy Jack’s Shack won’t announce an official grand opening date. Once they’ve got the liquor license, that’ll be it.

Weekend brunch service will roll out after they’re up and running.
