5 things to know about the new brunch menu at Angeline’s in Uptown

Angeline’s, the hot new spot in the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, just started serving brunch.

Brunch runs Saturdays and Sundays 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., which means that if you’re not drinking, you can get your brunch on much earlier than that 10 a.m. alcohol call-time.

People are pretty pumped about Angeline’s so far, rating it 3.5/5 on Yelp, 4.1/5 stars on Google and 5/5 stars on Facebook. Dang.

The restaurant is beautiful, from the light fixtures to the marble bar to the unique artwork throughout the room.

The brunch vibe was relatively low-key and quiet, but that’s probably because I went at 10 a.m. on a rainy Sunday.

Here are a few things you should know about brunch at Angeline’s.

(1) Parking isn’t terrible, especially on weekend mornings.

The restaurant doesn’t have its own parking, but I found a metered spot along S Mint Street right next to BB&T Ballpark and walked two minutes to Angeline’s.

If you aren’t so lucky, there are affordable garages on both S Church Street and W 3rd.

There’s also that super narrow surface lot in front of Ink N Ivy, but you won’t find me trying to squeeze in there.

(2) The menu is big and offers lots of variety.

It’s broken down into seven sections, including breakfast classics, pizzas, and handhelds.

I ordered based on the staff’s recommendations rather than customer favorites, since it’s still too early to tell.

The menu descriptions use big words that I literally had to Google, but once you receive the dishes, you’ll find them extremely approachable.

Avocado Toast

Avocado mousse, ciabatta, fried prosciutto, calabrian aioli ($11)

Prosciutto & Melon

Compressed canary melon, prosciutto de parma, red veined sorrel, meyer lemon oil ($12)

Banana Bread French Toast

Whipped sorghum butter, compressed strawberries, candied pecans ($16)

Confit Potato Pizza

Hash

This is my favorite item.

Braised oxtail, caramelized onions, bell peppers, taleggio fonduta, rosemary potatoes, sunny side up eggs ($16)

Steak & Egg

Bracciole stuffed with kale, garlic, roasted red bell pepper, creamy Anson Mills grits, egg, sauce zingara ($21)

Braised Oxtail Sandwich

Taleggio fonduta, house giardineira, baguette ($15)

(3) The cocktail menu is small but classic.

I tried the Bloody Mary and Oaxacan Coffee, but you can also sip on a Bellini (peach and prosecco) or Rossini (strawberry and prosecco) for $11 each.

Not drinking? Try a house-pressed juice, like Beets Me (beets, carrot, parsley, horseradish) or Dea Verde (kale, cucumber, lemon, celery) for $8 each.

(4) Angeline’s takes brunch reservations.

There were plenty of tables open when I went, but once their brunch offering takes off, it may be hard to get in. Make your reservation by calling 704-445-2540 or on Open Table.

(5) The private dining room could be a sweet spot for your next gathering.

If you’re looking to host a big group for brunch (or lunch or dinner), Angeline’s private dining room could be just what you need.

Honestly, Angeline’s is good option for any meal on any day – they’re even open for late night pizza.

Get it Sunday through Wednesday, 10 – 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday, 11 p.m. – 12 a.m.
