Hi Tide Poke & Raw Bar planning to open in Dilworth this weekend — view their menu

Hi Tide will be located near Uptown on Morehead Street in the space formerly occupied by Meat & Fish Co’s restaurant/retail area.

This fast casual poke bowl restaurant and raw bar will be open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Inside, you’ll find 25 seats, a large handmade maple table and white subway tiles on the walls. I peeked my head in and it looks great inside.

Additionally, Hi Tide will have a retail case with fresh seafood, fish, shrimp and oysters. Unlike Clean Catch in Myers Park, Hi Tide will focus on prepared food — they’re a restaurant that also sells fresh seafood (not vice versa).

The team behind the concept includes Jeff Van Dyke, the managing partner at Brixx Pizza, Michael LaVecchia, theMeat & Fish founder and Jeffrey Schreiber — who will be the GM, executive chef and operating owner.

“We are committed to selling only sustainable, high quality seafood,” Hi Tide co-owner Jeff Van Dyke told me. “Michael LaVecchia has 30 years of experience finding the best quality seafood available and has a buyer at the Hawaiian tuna auction on a daily basis hand selecting the best fish from the Pacific.”

Given the experienced ownership and our city’s never-ending appetite for poke bowls and healthy fast casual, I anticipate this Dilworth restaurant to do well. Obstacles include a tight parking lot and it won’t be viewed as walkable from many offices and homes.

Menu at Hi Tide

Hi Tide will serve poke bowls, oysters, lobster rolls, shrimp rolls, shrimp cocktail, sliders, poke nachos, seaweed salad and frescas.

Oysters will be meticulously selected from both the East and West Coast and range from $1.50 to $3 each based on origin. They’ll be served on the half shell with Hi Tide’s house-made cocktail sauce, shaved horseradish ice or fennel and garlic mignonette.

Ownership told me they’re be doing a daily happy hour on fresh shucked oysters.
