Expect big crowds in Uptown this weekend for Charlotte Pride’s annual festival and parade. An estimated 130,000 people attended last year’s event, continuing a steady upward trajectory of attendance.

Logistics
Charlotte Pride Week started August 18 with a lineup of community events that culminate in the festival and parade this weekend.
Forecast: Gorgeous. Highs in the low- to mid-80s and lows in the 60s. No rain.
Street closures: Tryon Street (from Levine Avenue of the Arts to Trade Street) will close at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 25. Cross streets will remain open. Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, Tryon from Stonewall to Trade will close along with all cross streets and remain closed until 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 27.

The festival features vendor booths, performance stages, a food court (between 3rd and 4th Streets) and multiple bars/beverage stations. It kicks off with an opening ceremony at the main Wells Fargo Stage

More than 100 organizations totaling thousands of marchers will take to the streets on Sunday for the parade led by grand marshals Monica Helms, a longtime transgender activist, and North Carolina State Senator Jeff Jackson. See a full list of groups participating in the parade.
