School’s almost in session, and that means it’s time for parents to mark their calendars — or request days off work — for the dates school is out.
In case you’re wondering, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has 29 days off throughout the year (and four early release days). Students who are enrolled in the district’s After School Enrichment Program get coverage for early dismissal and teacher work days, but not holidays, though winter and spring break camps are usually offered.
Happy planning! At least the last day of school falls on a Friday again.
August 28
First day of school. Get your cute signs ready for pictures.
September 4
Labor Day. Say goodbye to summer.
September 21 & 22
Teacher work days. Don’t ask me why the district put two days in September together since that’s pretty unusual this time of year, but it does coincide with Rosh Hashanah.
You could also take a nice fall break trip here.
October 18
Early dismissal day
October 30
Teacher work day. If I’m a teacher, I’m wishing this was November 1 — after Halloween.
November 10
This Friday holiday date will mark Veteran’s Day since it falls on a weekend this year.
November 22, 23 and 24
Holiday dates off for Thanksgiving.
December 6
Early dismissal day.
December 20 — January 2
School’s out for winter break. December 20 and 21 are teacher work days. The rest are holidays or annual leave dates.
January 15
Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
January 22
Teacher work day.
February 7
Early dismissal day.
February 19
Teacher work day.
March 29 — April 6
Spring break — March 29 is a teacher work day.
April 18
Early dismissal day.

June 8
Last day of school!
