A new cocktail and spirit shop — Stumptown Station — will continue that evolution.
This spot will offer spirits local to Charlotte and the Carolinas and feature classic cocktails with a local twist, the owners say.
The location is right on the main strip of downtown, next to the farmer’s market.
Look for a “rustic, Prohibition-era feel.”
The bar is made out of a 18-foot, half-ton slab of wood from a single North Carolina tree. The doors were reclaimed from the old Matthews Hotel (made possible with a grant from the town council).
The bar is downstairs. Upstairs, there will be a lounge with a few tables and laid-back feel.
Stumptown Station will be run as a private club under the state’s alcohol laws but be open to anyone 21 or older. A $5 membership gets you in the door, and a $30 membership gives you VIP status — an engraved cocktail glass and priority access to special events.
They’ll serve snacks (peanuts, chips, etc.) but allow patrons to bring in their own food.
