Joe and Nosh, the new coffeeshop on East Morehead, will open Monday

Joe and Nosh is the fourth concept in Treehouse Kitchen’s restaurant portfolio, joining The Summit Room, The Majoybird and The Packhouse, which opened next door earlier this month.

The casual coffeeshop has been running a series of soft openings this week and will officially open Monday, July 24 with limited hours and a limited menu to start. You’ll find it at 500 East Morehead, the new development next to the Dowd YMCA.

Joe and Nosh pays tribute to the Coffee Cup, a historic Charlotte soda shop that became one of the first integrated diners in the city under female ownership in 1968.

The Coffee Cup’s Clarkson Street location was a landmark diner in Charlotte, opening in 1947 and operating for nearly 60 years. It faced demolition in 2006 but survived thanks to a historic landmark designation. Although the building pulled through, the business still had to relocate.

The Coffee Cup struggled to regain momentum in its new University City location and closed in early 2009. The original building was demolished later that same year.

At Joe and Nosh, you’ll find a wall-sized photo of the original Coffee Cup in the dining room.

The full menu features hot and cold coffee and tea, smoothies, baked goods and an extensive savory menu, including the best thing: all-day breakfast.

Housemade baked goods include doughnuts, poptarts, muffins, croissants, cinnamon buns and giant soft pretzels.

The 15-item sandwich menu covers the classics from pimento cheese to party ham along with a Twisted Club with avocado, a BLT with basil mayo and a chicken kale Caesar wrap in a spinach tortilla. The Mayobird’s “The Harvest” chicken salad makes a cameo too.

The build-your-own breakfast sandwich will be the star of the all-day breakfast menu. They’ll also have a hearty two-egg farm plate, daily veggie and meat quiches and some lighter items like yogurt parfaits, oatmeal and fruit.

Joe and Nosh will open with limited hours before expanding to their full operating schedule.

To start, they’ll be open Monday – Saturday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
